“FOR WE KNOW”
  II CORINTHIANS 5:1-8

INTRODUCTION:
           A.    Much of life is preceded by faith:
                   1.    Paul wrote; II Corinthians 5:7
                   2.    A child learning to walk first sees others walking
           B.    Faith and practice go hand in hand; James 2:15-17
           C.    Knowledge of our eternal existence will help us prepare for eternal blessing;                                    II Peter 3:11
           D.    Our study addressed in II Corinthians starts with “For We Know”
    
I.    “WE KNOW” THAT OUR FLESHLY BODY IS TEMPORARY: I Corinthians 15:51-54
           A.    Paul refers to our body as an earthly house; II Corinthians 5:1
                  1.    He told the brethren that we are burdened in this body; II Corinthians 5:4
                  2.    To be at home in this body is to be absent from the Lord; II Corinthians 5:6
           B.    Paul told the brethren at Corinth; I Corinthians 15:50
           C.    Paul stated that we must all be changed; I Corinthians 15:51-52

II.    A CHRISTIAN LONGS FOR IMMORTALITY:  II Corinthians 5:2
           A.    Mortality will be swallowed up by life for God’s people; II Corinthians 5:4
                  1.    God created us to live eternally with Him; II Corinthians 5:5
                  2.    True children of God are to partake of His nature; II Peter 1:3-4
           B.    Peter Wrote; II Peter 3:11-13
                  1.    Living godly lives will give us confidence and hope; II Peter 3:12
                  2.    Paul stated; II Corinthians 5:6-9

III.    PREPARING FOR IMMORTALITY; “FOR WE KNOW”:  II Corinthians 5:1-2
           A.    Paul labored to be accepted of God; II Corinthians 5:8-9
           B.    Those that live a life after the flesh will spend eternity without God; Romans 8:5-9
           C.    The Christians has been freed from sin through death and regeneration; Romans 6:5-11
                  1.    Paul told Titus; Titus 3:3-7
                  2.    Peter listed a number of characteristics of God, II Peter 1:5-7, and stated;                                        
II Peter 1:8-11 
          D.    Sin and death have no power over those who obey God; I Corinthians 15:55-58

CONCLUSION:
          A.    If Jesus comes today; will you, with confidence, face the judgment?                                                II Corinthians 5:8-9
          B.    Have you obeyed the gospel of Christ?
          C.    As a Christian, are you “Walking” after the Spirit?  Romans 8:1, 4
