            A.        Many worship God on their own terms; Colossians 2:21-23

            B.         God tells us that worship involves the gathering together of the saints with joint participation; Acts 20:7

            C.         Paul spoke of serving the Lord as a willing sacrifice; I Thessalonians 2:7-9

I.          PAUL’S WILLING SACRIFICE:  I Thessalonians 2:8

            A.        Body and soul presented; Romans 12:1-2

                        1.          Shamefully treated; I Thessalonians 2:2; Acts 16:22-23

                        2.         “Labor and travail”; I Thessalonians 2:9

                        3.          Paul allowed nothing to stand in the way; I Thessalonians 2:4; II Corinthians 11:24-28
            B.         Paul was willing to “impart” his soul; I Thessalonians 2:8

           B.          Peter’s sacrifice; Mark 10:28

                        1.        “Where shall we go”?  John 6:67-69

III.       CHRISTIAN SACRIFICE INVOLVES COST:  Luke 14:26-33

            A.         The widow’s offering; Mark 12:42-44

            B.         Christians must be willing to “Spend and be spent”; II Corinthians 12:15

            C.         Christians are to be of “One heart and one soul”; Acts 4:32
                         1.         “All things common”; Acts 4:34-35
                         2.         Comforting one another; I Thessalonians 2:11

IV.       HAVE YOU COUNTED THE COST?  Mark 8:36

                        2         The Apostles; History records that all died for their faith save John

            B.        What sacrifice have you offered?
 
CONCLUSION:

            A.        No sacrifice is without cost to the one offering; I Thessalonians 2:11-12

            B.        Christians are to sacrifice using what they have;  time, talents, means
