             A.         The purpose of God’s revelation is man’s salvation; John 20:30-31

                          1.         “Accompany” means “belong to; connected with”

                          2.         Man is saved when he obeys the gospel; Hebrews 5:9; Romans 1:16

             B.         Eternal salvation is to be received in the “world to come”; Mark 10:30

                          1.         Is conditional; Philippians 2:12

                          2.         Qualities set forth in our lesson provide power on which to build for eternity

            C.          Our subject “Essentials That Accompany Salvation”


I.          “THE FULL ASSURANCE OF FAITH”:  Hebrews 6:12; 10:22

            A.        Without faith we cannot please God; Hebrews 11:6

                        1.         Theme of Hebrews, Jesus is worthy of your faith

                         2.         Israel failed to enter the promise land for lack of faith; Hebrews 3:12-4:11

            B.         Faith is the victory that overcomes the world; I John 5:4; I John 2:15-17

            C.         A child of God is to withstand the devil by a steadfast faith; I Peter 5:8-9

            D.        The word of God is the source of saving faith; Romans 1:17


II.         “THE FULL ASSURANCE OF HOPE”:  Romans 10:17

             A.       “Hope” is a complex emotion; it is desire coupled with expectation

             B.         Built on the foundation of faith; Hebrews 11:1

             C.         Hope anchors the soul; Hebrews 6:19-20

                         1.         the fads and currents of man which would pull us away; Hebrews 2:1

                                     a.         The current of persecution; II Timothy 3:12

                                     b.         The fad of popularity; Exodus 23:2

                                     c.         The current of immorality; Matthew 24:12

                                     d.         The current of temptation; James 1:12-13

                         2.         Hope, desires, and expectation of the glory of heaven; Hebrews 6:19-20

            D.        Hope moves one to purify himself; I John 3:1-3

            E.         Saints are saved by hope; Romans 8:24



            A.        Patience and steadfastness, faithfulness, when the going is hard; II Timothy 3:12

            B.         Abraham as our example; Hebrews 6:13-15; Genesis 12:1-2; Romans 4:19

            C.         God’s people need patience today; Hebrews 10:36; Galatians 6:9; I Corinthians 15:58


            A.        These three qualities are essential to living a successful Christian life; II Corinthians 5:7; Romans 8:24; Hebrews 6:12

            B.         These qualities “accompany” (are connected with) salvation
