GIVING ONE’S ALL TO GOD

Matthew 5:21-30

INTRODUCTION:

A.  Total commitment is a must; Matthew 8:21-22

B.  Times like these:

      1.  Too many are satisfied just to get by at work or play; Romans 12:11

      2.  The world sees honesty or total abstinence as foolishness;

C.  Carried over into the church:

      1.  Occasional attendance; Hebrews 10:25-26

      2.  Giving one’s all marks Christians as fools; I Peter 4:4

D.  The Lord accepts no less than our best; Matthew 6:33-34

I.  OUR FAITH MUST BE TOTALLY IN HIM:

     A.  In His deity and His salvation; Hebrews 11:6

     B.  Faith based in fulfilled prophecies; Acts 3:22-24; John 8:46

     C.  In His church and her triumph; Matthew 16:18; II Corinthians 2:14

     D.In His promises; Matthew 28:20; John 14:1-9,19

II.  OUR LIVES MUST BE LIVED FOR HIM: Romans 12:1-2

     A.  Efforts for spiritual growth: Hebrews 5:14

          1.  To know His word; I Timothy 2:15; I Peter 2:2

          2.  Prayer comes naturally to God’s children; I Thessalonians 5:17;

               Romans 8:6

     B.  Our worship to God must be to glorify Him: John 4:24; II Corinthians 4:6

III.  OUR SERVICE MUST BE IN HIS NAME (BY HIS AUTHORITY):

       Hebrews 12:28

       A.  Serving one another; Galatians 5:13; Matthew 25:31-46;

            Colossians 3:17

       B.  By using our time and talents; I Corinthians 6:19-20; Matthew 25;

             Luke 12:48

       C.  In definite soul winning; Daniel 12:3

       D.  First in all things; Matthew 6:33

CONCLUSION:

      A.  Christ gave His all (His body and His blood); Hebrews 9:11-14; 10:10

      B.  Must realize that we BELONG to Him; Matthew 6:24
