           A.          Paul addresses the sin of  indifference:

                        1.           At Corinth; I Corinthians 6:5

                        2.           To the Hebrew brethren; Hebrews 5:11-6:1

           B.          Jesus to the church at Ephesus; Revelation 2:4

           C.         Christians must speak the truth and rebuke sin; Ephesians 4:25; I Peter 4:11; II Timothy 2:15; 4:2

           D.        Christianity is more than a word, it is a way of life; James 1:22

           E.        Our lesson: “Indifference Toward God”


I.          GOD’S LOVE FOR HUMANITY: John 3:16

            A.         God saw and acted on a need; Romans 5:8

                        1.         He gave the best He had; Hebrews 1:1-6

                        2.         God is not indifferent to a need; II Peter 3:9; I Corinthians 10:13

            B.         Jesus gave His all; Hebrews 2:6-9

                        1.         He shed His blood; Hebrews 9:11-12

                        2.         He gave His life; Titus 2:13-14

            C.         Loved caused God to act on our behalf; John 3:16


II.         MAN’S INDIFFERENCE TOWARD GOD: I Corinthians 1:13-15

            A.        The world view of God and His word:

                        1.         “The Bible is outdated” or “God is dead”; Mark 7:6-13

                        2.         Such a view makes one an enemy of the cross; James 4:4; I John 2:15-16

                        3.         Such ideas make all religious practices “vain”; Mark 7:7

            B.         The Christian and indifference:

                         1.         A Christian has been reconciled to God; Romans 5:8-11

                         2.         The Christians life must be:

                                     a.         A life of devotion and sacrifice; Romans 12:1-2

                                     b.         A life of service; Hebrews 12:28; James 1:27

                                     c.         A life of love and forgiveness; Hebrews 13:1; Matthew 6:14-15

                                     d.         A battle to be fought; Jude 1:3



            A.            Indifference makes God sick; Revelation 3:15-16

            B.            Christians must care for all others; Galatians 6:10

                           1.        Must be workers; Philippians 2:12

                           2.        Must be soldiers in the Lord’s army; Ephesians 6:10-12

            C.           God will condemn those who refuse to take a stand; Galatians 6:9



             A.           What are we doing to keep the church pure?

             B.            Will we “fight the battle” or “abandon ship”? I Timothy 6:12

             C.           We must repent of indifference or be lost; Revelation 3:15-19
