PUT ON THE ARMOR OF LIGHT

ROMANS 13:8-14

INTRODUCTION:

A.  Life is always uncertain:

     1.  James stated that we cannot know what tomorrow may bring; James 4:14

     2.  Jesus taught that we should live in day-tight compartments; Matthew 6:34

B.  As the children of God, we must be prepared for eternity; II Peter 3:11

C.  Our study should provoke a desire to enthrone Christ in our hearts

D.  Our topic “Put on the Armor of Light”; Romans 13:12

I.  WE MUST PREPARE OURSELVES FOR ETERNITY: Romans 13:12

A.  To prepare for heaven, we be alive spiritually, Romans 13:11; I Corinthians 2:1-5

      1.  “Except a man be born again”; John 3:3-5

      2.  We must “put on Christ”; Romans 13:14; Galatians 3:27

B.  We must cast off the works of darkness; Romans 13:12; I Peter 2:1

      1.  Some works listed, Romans 13:13

      2.  Paul wrote, Galatians 5:19-21

C.  “The day is at hand”; Romans 13:12

      1.  Peter warned; II Peter 3:10

      2.  Paul pointed out; I Corinthians 15:51-53

II.  WE MUST “PUT ON THE ARMOUR OF LIGHT”: Romans 13:12

A.  “Put on the whole armor of God”; Ephesians 6:11-17

      1.  The “fruit of the Spirit”; Galatians 5:22-25

      2.  Conform to the image of Christ; Romans 8:29; 13:14

B.  “Let us walk honestly”; Romans 13:13

      1.  Walking honestly involves walking in light (righteousness); I John 1:5-7

      2.  We can be deceived; II Thessalonians 2:7-12

      3.  We can deceive ourselves into believing a lie; James 1:22

CONCLUSION:

A.  od’s family will work together to be like Christ; Jude 1:20-21

B.  We must awake to the things of God, understanding that the day of salvation may come at any moment; Romans 13:12; II Peter 3:10

C.  Are you/we ready to meet God? II Peter 3:11-14
