INTRODUCTION:

 

A. When we sin against our brethren, we sin against Christ; I Corinthians 8:12

1. Jesus told the multitude at judgment;

Matthew 25:40-45 (NKJV)

2. Paul told the brethren of Corinth; 

I Corinthians 8:12

B. Our study “Sin against the brethren”

 

  I. WHEN WE DO THEM BODILY HARM:

A. To take a life is sin; Matthew 6:38-39

B. To deprive one of his freedoms, (Joseph); 

Matthew 25:35-36

 

 II. WHEN WE FORSAKE THEM IN 

TROUBLES:

 

A. The Samaritan; Luke 10:30-35

B. The disciples forsook Christ; Matthew 26:56

C. Demas forsook Paul; II Timothy 4:10

D. We are to help those in need; Galatians 6:2, 

10; James 2:14-17

E. Paul wrote; Romans 12:5

 

III. WHEN WE SET A BAD EXAMPLE:

A. Be a godly example; I Timothy 4:12; 

Matthew 18:6

1. Parents, don’t do things you wouldn’t want your children to do; Ephesians 6:4

2. Negligent church members set a poor 

example; I Timothy 4:12

B. Don’t set a bad example in tongue; James 3:8-10 

1. False rumors destroy influence; 

Matthew 5:13

2. The talebearer is condemned by the Lord; 

Leviticus 19:16

3. We are told; Exodus 20:16; Proverbs 6:16-19

C. Set a good example in teaching and 

preaching; Romans 10:13

1. Paul wrote; Romans 1:16

2. We are told; I Corinthians 15:1; Acts 8:5

 

CONCLUSION:

A. When we sin, we sin against Christ; 

I Corinthians 8:12

B. We must repent of our sin if we would

be saved; Luke 13:5
