What Makes The Christian Different?

INTRODUCTION:

            A.        The Christian is in a different kingdom; Colossians 1:13

            B.         The Christian is separate from the world; II Corinthians 6:17

            C.        The Christian is a new creature; II Corinthians 5:17

            D.        For the Christian a new life has begun; Philippians 3:13

            E.         Our lesson “What Makes the Christian Different?”

 

  I.        THE CHRISTIAN WILL GROW IN THE LORD: I Peter 2:2

            A.        The Hebrew letter tells us; Hebrews 5:12

            B.         Three things which bring Christian growth:

                        1.         Pure food; II Timothy 2:15

                        2.         Godly exercise; Hebrews 5:14

                        3.         A righteous environment; I Corinthians 15:33

 

 II.        THE CHRISTIAN IS A LIVING STONE: I Peter 2:5

            A.        The Christian must be an active part of the church:

                        1.         Active in attendance; Acts 20:7; Hebrews 10:22-25

                        2.         Active in being led by the Spirit; Romans 8:9, 14

                        3.         In partaking of the Divine Nature; II Peter 1:4

            B.         I must be responsible in Christian duties; I Corinthians 15:58

 

III.       THE OLD MAN CRUCIFIED; THE NEW MAN IS BEING RENEWED:

            A.        The old man, along with his characteristics; Romans 6:6; Galatians 5:19-21

            B.         The Christian is to become like God; Galatians 5:22-25

 

CONCLUSION:

 

            A.        As a Christian, I will:

                        1.         Try to lead others to the Lord; Matthew 28:19-20

                        2.         Develop godly love; never critical of  the church before the world;

                                    I Peter 1:22

            B.         As a Christian I will put God first in all things; Matthew 6:33
