WILL THE GOSPEL SAVE YOU?

ROMANS 1:16-21

INTRODUCTION:

  A.  All need the power of God to save them:

        1.  The sinner is a bond-servant to sin; Romans 6:17-18

        2.  The sinner is dead in his sin; Ephesians 2:1; Luke 15:32

        3.  A sinner is a captive of Satan; II Timothy 2:24-26

  B.  God must save man if man is to be saved; I Timothy 4:10

        1.  He uses the power He has chosen; Romans 1:16

        2.  Direct or indirect power; I Timothy 2:4; II Timothy 4:2

  C.  Our lesson; “Will The Gospel Save You?”

 I.  GOSPEL POWER IS IN THE REVEALER: Romans 1:17

      A.  In the gospel God’s righteousness is revealed:

            1.  Reveals how God makes man righteous by justification and forgiveness

            2.  Two ways to be righteous; Romans 3:23-26

     B.  The unrighteousness of man is revealed in the gospel; Romans 3:23; John 3:16;

           Romans 5:6-9

     C.  The wrath of God is also revealed in the gospel; Romans 1:18; 2:1-9; 6:23

 II.  THE GOSPEL WILL NOT SAVE THOSE WHO REFUSE TO BELIEVE: Romans 1:16

      A.  Many refuse to accept the reality of sin; Romans 3:23

      B.  Failure to believe the gospel will not nullify the gospel; only its power; John 12:47-48

III.  WILL YOU REFUSE TO BELIEVE THE GOSPEL?

      A.  Will vanity and pride get in your way?; I Corinthians 1:19-24; Romans 1:22

             1.  Cares and pleasure; Luke 8:13

             2.  False interpretations of the word; II Corinthians 4:2

      B.  The gospel has often been perverted; I Corinthians 15:1-3; Galatians 1:6-9

CONCLUSION:

      A.  The gospel is still God’s power to save; Romans 1:16

      B.  We must believe and obey the gospel in order to be saved; Mark 16:15-16
